THE GREAT ATLANTIC PUFFIN COMPANY
SIGNAGE & DISPLAYS
WICKED FRESH 2021-2022
The subtle centerpiece of this work is the plexiglass “safety shield”. It was the impetus for the whole project. Like nearly every business during covid a thin plexi shield was hung from the ceiling, which had bowed and its corners cracked. This shield had also become a space to post signs and specials, it had become visually overwhelming and distracting. The goal was to replace this temporary solution with something that felt purposeful and perminate, designed for the space.
For the new plexi shield I used a larger thicker reduced glare material, which I mounted to a metal pole and a strip of oak etched with a vertical repetition of their logo, an element I would use several times. A cutout at the bottom of the plexi allows the POS screen to be flipped to give customers access to the screen. Above this is the talk-through logo. This cutout in the shape of the logo which allows sound to pass through but the offset plexi circle blocks direct air flow.
This display shelf was designed to maximize counter space and organize a number of things that previously each had their own flat pedestal.
The upper part of the shelf system has rings to perfectly space the display cans for their current beer selection. There is also a middle shelf hidden from customers for various cards.
The lower part of the display is much deeper. The first shelf is dedicated for cookies and has a hinged plexiglass lid. The lowest shelf is normally used for displaying other confections, but were out of stock at the time of photographing.
These shelves also are etched with a pattern of their logo that is designed to feel modern and clean but reminiscent of the classic diner checkerboard paper.
This display stand advertises the Speakeasy specials which are over the top combos you would probably never get anywhere else. These weekly specials are one offs so as the sign says “Get it while you can…”
Previously the burger and shake specials would be printed individually on 8.5” x 11” paper and taped to the plexi shield
This display provides a strong consistent brand and a physical template that gives space for each element to be impactful. Eliminating the need for an employee to edit text onto a photo; ultimately increasing the consistency of the brand.
This display stand functions much like a picture frame except the back panels are hinged allowing easy access.
